in lot many ways than one

Yes a compost pile is actually a very sane investment to make...in fact the investment is very little and the benfeits alot more. It actually helps in the following ways,
1. Regenerate poor soil.
2. It can absorb odors and harmful organic compouns in the soil making it more fertile
3. prevents erosion of the soil
4. helps control pollution to some extent
5. Reduces the need for water
6. reduces the need for fertilizers and pesticides...all chemical that are manufactured and environmentally harmful.
7. is natural remedy against landfill cover.e

Compost: ThePerfect Housewarming Gift!
