stavy asks:grow your own?

do you grow much of your own food? Apart from herbs and some fruit trees, the only thing edible I can say i grow is my grapevine. Being greek the vine leaves are used by the whole family :)

We grow as much as we can

And occasionally swipe stuff from our neighbors, as well as poach when the game warden is at lunch. Our high altitude garden gives us carrots, beets, radishes, lettuce, etc. Other grown at home interests are not freely discussed in such an open forum.

Not any more

Unfortunately, we really don't grow much of our own at all any more, mostly because of location. :(

Nothing here

I'm ashamed to say that we grow none of our own food. We live in the country and I should try to grow a garden, though. It would be so much cheaper.

its never too late

to start Chris.. why not start with some herbs? Simple things like Parsely, Mint etc... once you see results it will encourage you to go further. If you have room to grow then why not start now?

Stuffed grape leaves

I just had my first taste of stuffed grape leaves at a Greek restaurant, stavy, they were some kind of delicious.
We grow concord grapes on an arbor, and if concord grape leaves can be used in stuffing, I'll be about asking you for a recipe.

Growing is fun

I personally quite enjoy having a garden of my own growing waht I like and even giving something away to friends...A habit I got from my grandmom...she still patiently saves seeds of beans, okras, brinjals etc. she grows every year for sowing for the next year...it is quite a sight to see her laboriously tending her garden and I do get inspired a lot...
