I want to grow some blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries in central Texas. I was wondering if any particular types are better than others for this area? I'm pretty sure we are Zone 9.

If you compost using worms, have you found any particular kind of worm to be superior to others? Faster and more thorough?

When is the best time of year to plant trees? Does it vary by type of tree?

I have a mature hazlenut in my garden.. We don't get many nuts from it, because there is a colony of squirells atthe bottom of our garden, and they get most of them! My neighbours want me to cut the tree down, because they say the squirells are pests and i am encouraging them... but to my mind, god put nuts on the earth for squirells and depriving them of their food is wrong... What should I do> retain my neighbours good graces and get rid of the tree.. or leave itthere for the poor squirells...?

A lot of my parents fruits get eaten by birds... any eco friendly ideas to keep them away?

My roses are always infested, and need to be sprayed with chemicals to kill them. Is there something natural i could use instead?
