if you are planting
seeds direct into soil then early April is best, as long as there is no frost. You will need canes to stake them and prevent them falling over (a major hazard). Its best to plant lots close together to make this easier. They dont like to dry out, and need to be kept well watered, making sure the water sinks down to the roots. They like a sheltered sunny position where it is not too windy. Great against fences, because they cover up the boring planking.
