TerraMadreFoundation asks:How was Winter where you live?

Here in Colorado, U.S.A., it was warmer and dryer than usual. Any difference where you live?

Here in the UK

we had freak snowstorms, worst recorded in 18 years. last summer was the wettest in 50 odd years too. Everything was messed up.
Comments:
Hmmm-Wonder what the new seasons will bring? At least maybe not the boring "normal" natural cycles!?!?

There is nothing

wrong with boring normal cycles! I like knowing that come April i can walk about in short sleeves, that in June, July and August the days will stretch to 11pm and be dry and sunny without being so baking hot you can't breathe.. i like the long indian summer of September and October, and the slight chill in the air as the leaves turn red and gold..
Comments:
We agree completely. Normal is a good thing!

Bizarre in the Panhandle

Here in northwest Florida, we stayed unseasonably warm through the end of December/early January (my tomatoes and corn were still growing!). Over the next few months, we alternated between ridiculously (for us) cold and windy, nice for a few days, then cold and windy again. Last week we also received torrential rains, after months of practically none.

I recently saw a theory on, I believe, Scientific American that suggests the unseasonably cold weather in some parts of the world this winter was due to the unusual flow of warm air into warming Siberia, which caused a shift of cold air into other parts of the globe.
Comments:
Wow! Definitely not boring! We have also heard of "shifting thermal masses" that seem to be abnormal occurrences, causing unusal weather.

we are now

middle of April and we are basking in 20C which is much warmer than normal, but we are all enjoying it at the moment, especially over the long Easter Weekend.

I don't know, I'm still recovering, lol

Here in Ohio, winter was worse than usual at times. But I guess, overall, it was a relatively mild winter.

Not much different

Here in Ohio, we had a few pretty bad snow storms, but overall it was about the same as it always is.

Fairly normal

We had a few random spurts where it was really much, much worse than previous years, but for the most part, it was actually milder than usual.

Very very dry

On the Pacfic Northwest Coast, it has, at least in central Oregon, a very very dry winter. We usually rain pretty much all the time in the winter. This winter we were able to see stars at night, which is a treat, but also points out that even in the wet wet area of the globe can see drought.
