Just Steam and Vinegar
With just about 5% Lysol usually gets the job done very satisfactorily. Or of course wood flooring is also an option.

Good question
I had never thought of eco-friendly carpet cleaners, and don't know of any, but another option is to try to care for your carpet so that you don't have to clean itas often.

do it yourself;
with lots of water and no soap this way you can at least save off carbon emissions that carpet cleaner guys are going to cause in the transportation process
