Internal Combustion
Chris1203 is onto something. The industrial age has created more pollution than Mother Nature Herself (volcanos, forest fires, etc.). We don't have a complete answer for "eco-friendliness", except to just do what our hearts tell us is right for the planet.

I want to say that we should have bypassed the Industrial Age, but if we had, we might still be in caves so I don't know.

Religion, Eminent Domain, and Dominion
I would have liked that western religion, back a few hundred years ago. had not preached that the Earth is man's to do with and exploit as he likes; that the word "dominion" had been interpreted as "care", not "rape", and I certainly would like that these outmoded philosophies were not still in use today..
