Gifts in the form of Trees

Are are almost unilaterally accepted graciously. We've planted dozens in memory of our fallen soldiers, and many more to show respect for our forefathers. Granted, they don't usually thank us verbally, but the warm thought is always there.

Haven't done this yet

I have heard of this but, for some reason, have never done it. I think that I will check online and see what options are out here. This is a GREAT idea.

Plant Trees for Social Justice

A foundation exists in El Salvador in the memory of Archbishop Romero who was assassinated by government lackeys because of his championing of the poor. These are trees that will be bearing fruit and/or used as erosion control. I believe we gave five or ten dollars and a tree was planted in the name of a friend of ours who was celebrating an important anniversary. He told us that that was the best gift we could give him.

Oh yes! Certainly

I think the idea of planting trees is very good and in my home town, the government itself promotes the idea by alloting a piece of land for that purpose. People who want to plant trees on birthdays, anniversaries or as remembrance for a person can go to that area and plant a tree....isn't it fantastic!

Sounds like a wonderful town!

That sounds like a forward-looking town you live in. I would like to see how my town government reacts to such a suggestion.

Not around here

Around here we cut trees. But then we ARE in the middle of the woods, more or less. Which reminds me, if anyone needs and Maple Tree Seeds, NOW is the time to let me know.

I've never done this

I have heard of this being done but it never comes to mind when I'm thinking of gifts. Saying that, I would still want to get another gift for the person in question anyway! The general planting trees idea is great though, I should do it.

Information

I really would like to plant a tree for an anniversary. I just don't know how to go about finding a location that would allow me to plant a Flowering Dogwood tree. Does anyone have ideas as to who to contact so I can do this legally?
