I usually bring a cloth bag to do my shopping, and I recycle whatever I can. I'm also working on composting more, but there still will be some garbage. Occasionally, when I forget my shopping bag, I'm given the plastic ones, and I reuse them for garbage rather than buy garbage bags. I realize that there are probably more eco-freindly garbage bags out there. Which ones are best?

garbage bags

There are biodegradable plastic-like garbage bags made from corn. I don't know what stores you can buy them from, but you can find them on the internet. http://www.thisnext.com/item/236FA521/637CB67A/BioBag-Biogradable-Trash-Bags

Good Olde Paper Sacks

For "bio-degradability", I don't think anything beats the brown paper bags for garbage handling. For smaller households, these are better than using outsize plastic bags that will be thrown out way before they are full. For larger families who need bigger garbage bags, a brown paper bag for dry trash can be taken to the garbage cans, emptied, and used over and over.
