If you had the opportunity to go colonise another world.. would you go? What skills do you think you would need?

I would, definitely

I would love to live in another world if their were plants and animals around and skills I do not know...but may be a little more compassion and intelligence to build a more eco-friendly environment.

i think you would need to

be good with your hands... able to fix/make things, adapt stuff to other uses, and perhaps first aid skills too...

a new planet would be much like an old west frontier... your only possessions would be those you carried with you... so an ability to make the most of them would be important.

Tanners, hunters, candlemakers, people like that...

I'd go in a shot...

I've always had a mental picture of myself as an old woman, living on a planet with three moons and an ocean of a completely different colour. The skill I would need to develop would be how to cook food using whatever comestibles are native to the planet. What fun!

If I had the opportunity, I think that I would probably go. But I haven't given much thought about what skills I would need to help to colonize it.

hell yeah!

i would simply leap on such an opportunity... and about the skills... i would probably need some dexterous hand talents -enuff to be able to push a button on a portable video player by which to watch survival documentaries from discovery channel and national geographic :)

A successful colony

will require teamwork more than anything. If you are handy with one skill it stands to reason you are going to be able to pick up others as you go along.. All you need is the basic ability to turn your hand to anything.
