Some scientists say that earthquakes directly affect tsunamis. If this is so, is there any kind of planning we can accomplish to protect those endangered by tsunamis?

I think you'll ffind

that all scientists agree that earthquakes cause tsunamis....

there is supposed to be an early warning system in place for when an earthquake occurs in areas of low lying and coastal land, to enable evacuation from the danger areas. There are deep lying ocean sensors that detect the first stirrings.. This system depends on a good infrastructure of communnications to get the warnings out in time.. something that is not yet up and running properly in some parts of the world. But it's getting better!

I agree with Stavy

I totally agree with Stavy. I've heard that most tsunami's are caused by earthquakes (though not all) and that the early warning system is the only choice they have right now.
