Which animal do you think is the most helpful to humankind? I don't mean in the killing and eating of them; I mean which animal works to our greatest benefit?

the humble honey bee. without those little hardworkers half the planet would be a wasteland where nothing grows and the people starve.

Good answer! I tend to forget that our bee friends pollinate for us, as well as make honey!

the small microorganisms

I know they may not come under the tag animals but may bacterias etc help decompose the dead therefore do a very helpful and thankful job of keeping the planet clean, green and healthy too...imagine if all the dead animals, plants were just lying there....eeee

I would have to say...

dogs. No, they don't make any physical, or ecological, contribution to our lives, but they certainly do have an emotional benefit. Actually, come to think of it, they aslo have a health benefit. There are reports that owning a dog lowers your blood pressure, calms you down, etc.
