Twiceshy asks:A Green Move?

Obama has set his sights on providing more high speed internet service to more areas of our country. This means more opportunities for people in rural areas to actually work online.

Do you think this will heduce our need for petroleum based products while lowering our overall carbon footprint?

Definitely

It's become more and more acceptable to work from home, some cities are already going to a 4 day work week to reduce the carbon footprint this will definitely help. As internet access gets better telecommunication will also improve in quality and acceptance.

Information exchange

Hi speed also means that there will be tons more up to date information available for people in rural areas, so they'll have better opportunities to try innovations in energy production and environmental management. Hi speed means less time needed to download PDF documents and view instructional flash movies.
