Laughingmouse asks:A New USA?

Since we've seen how the free market system can be subverted by greed, and how much we are manipulated by our energy needs, do you think we are seeing a permanent change in U.S. society?

Do we need to be more lke western Europe?

A New USA?

I think we have few choices left. Consumers have been persecuted by the greedy, in this country and by OPEC, long enough.
Comments:
Well said.
I believe that we are, indeed, seeing a permanent change in our society. What that change will be, however, is yet to be seen.

We're 20 years behind

When you observe the cultures that flourish in western Europe, you realize that we're moving in the same direction, we're just a couple of decades behind them. Their sense of common purpose and unity is something for us to admire and aspire to.
Comments:
I agree. Americans have always tended to "go their own way" and not really aspire to unity the way that western Europe has.

We need a change...

We've been led by too many power hungry oil rich politicians and we're starting to get on the right track now... way to go :) I love the fact that green is going hand in hand with helping the economy in a way this recession is perfect timing for stopping global warming.
Comments:
Wow. I never thought of it that, but maybe this economic crisis was necessary to halt global warming and to get people to pay more attention to environmental issues.
