Despite all the efforts of Obama, do you think that the United States is inevitably headed toward a depression?

That depends on the mindset of the majority

That will go a long way in deciding the strength of the nation. If it does come down to a depression, the nation is all but finished. The American people no longer have the collective will necessary to handle that type of adversity.

a recession certainly

there is a global fall in GDP, which is a major indicator. There are no signs that this won't continue for a while longer.

Oh, one more thing

"Despite all the efforts of Obama". If by efforts you mean taking a week off to insult the Special Olympics on Jay Leno, and make the talk show rounds, I don't see that helping the country. Or being the work the AMerican people are paying him to do.

I don't think so...

I think we'll be able to pull out of this... if Obama didn't come in I would have said for sure... but because he has a clear vision and everything is hitting the fan he has more resources and urgency to pull things through faster...

Good question...

I think it's hard to tell right now. If the auto companies can avoid bankruptcy, I'd be more optimistic. And if the AIG crooks get to keep their bonuses, I'd say that's a negative indicator.

Economic Recovery

I don't feel we will go into a Depression as we know it but I don't see things getting better over night. I just think it's going to take a couple of years and then we will see more signs of an upswing in the economy.

Regarding his Tonight Show appearance

Obama is capable of human errors in speaking, referring to the Special Olympics remark which at its heart was meant to be a shot at his own bowling skills.

We have yet to see him say anything as off-the-wall as some of Bush's gems.

And by the way, what was Hillary thinking when she said that the US had more of a history with democracy that Europe? How embarrassing.
