the scale in question is the one that is associated with the largeness of the efforts and projects for environentalist cause. could we put away the concerns about financial legibility of such projects or how widely effective should a project be and just appreciate and encourage "each and every" contribution?

You're right, Keewi, for the most important reasons!

What does it matter if the cost is too great to save the planet? Without Her, money doesn't seem so important. If we argue about the cost of environmental health while it dies off all around us, we will have indeed failed miserably.

thing is when

there are limited fnds, and dozens of projects that need funding, some sort of measure has to be taken of which would gain the most for the least expenditure.. Until you can get the big corps (who control most of the money) to part with large chunks of it, that's how it's going to have to be.

what about low budget amateur projects? -lending a hand to the endeavorer, who vanguards just alone and who would achieve great feats only with some help?
Sounds like us...

I guess we could...

but it's not very realistic. There will always be "bean counters" who will calculate the costs, whether it is their "jobs" or not.
Comments:
that is -sadly true... i wonder what will they do when are no beans let alone earth left to count. :|
We are of the same mind, and we appreciate your thoughts.

A million amateur

projects all working away at their little bit would have a massive effect to the good. That's different. The question is about funding projects. With public oney being used, someone does have to take a decision as to which are most viable and will have the best results, in order to use the limited resources as efficiently as possible..
Comments:
i don't question feasibility of undertakings but the main concern i was trying to bring about was on efforts that would be "shrugged off" just because of their rather small seeming scale, leaving the bold enterpreneur pretty much haplessly on own.

i see keewi..

but surely a bold entrepeneur by his very nature would want to go it alone anyway?

Comments:
prudence... always prevails over pride; this in our code our very essence... as so naturally, "excessive pride" leads to extinction - only it takes some time for things to get a prudent momentum, sometimes more time and sometimes less.
let's hope contemporarily, it doesn't take much time for that fateful motive to be caught.
