Are there any risks to human health from recycled products? This is a subject that I have not read too much about.

Possibly...

Think of the big dump places where old tires are stored I remember seeing some of these places that catch on fire on tv and that's one huge environmental problem and also a dangerous one...

yes a good point

wasn't there somewhere recently in Canada where piles of rubber tires caught fire and caused a disaster forthe environment locally?

No more dangerous than the alternative.

Life is full of risks. Priorities are what matter the most.

That is an interesting question

And to be honest I have never heard it before. I will guess that the answer is "no", or we would have heard something about it by now.

might be from the process involved

rag pickers in India frequently get injured from the amount of glass, sharp metal etc. they get for garbage dumps...they are ofcourse picking it to get it recycled...

during the process like in case of cfls...open contact with mercury is possible....

so I beleive...risks are involved with recycling...

In the home

At our place, we re-use plastic jars and freezer bags. I guess if they weren't cleaned properly there could be a health risk, depending on what was previously stored in them.

Otherwise I've not heard about health risks associated with recycling.
