Anyone got any good ideas for reusing lacy net curtains? I have used fabrics from old curtains for making cushions, and also for making grocery bags, but i am at a loss to think of things to do with old nets?
If they are lacy, and large, I would make a caftan from them. Of course, you might have to add a lining.
They might make nice pillow covers as well!
Comments:
interesting idea, but as these curtains are going to be a bit old and grey by the time i take them down, i don't think they'd be suitable for clothing.
I think the vegetable storage idea is good, that might work as well for certain fruits as well. You could also store sewing stuff like ribbon and lengths of narrow trim.
Would the material be too sparse for tote bags for shopping? This thread reminds me of The Sound of Music when Maria made clothes for the kids from her old curtains.
You could sew them into sachets for your underwear drawer and fill with something like organic lavender blossoms, or whatever scent you like. They would also make a nice gift if you can get them nice and white and maybe use a little ribbon trim or something
