It is very strange but forsome reason my local council want me to remove the caps from water bottles before I put them in the recycle bin that they collect from my house every other week. Is there something different about the plastic in the caps?

Plastic Caps have a different melting point

They can cause quite a mess for the recycling center... the plastic neck that's left is small enough to be absorbed in the process.

Taking off the caps.

I wondered this myself. Maybe it's b/c the plastic in the caps is made from tougher stuff than the jugs themselves and have to be disposed of differently?
