turbine.jpgVery soon, homes in South Sydney will be supplied with wave-generated power and 2,000 litres per day of fresh drinking water from the same place a wave-generated power station. Waves will wash into a tunnel on the power station, which will drive air through a pipe and into a turbine. This power station will be 100 yards off a beach near Wollongong and will generate 500 kilowatts of clean power to 500 homes in the grid.

This station will cost $4.7 million. This station is a prototype for 10 larger stations which are planned for the coasts near Portland in the Victoria State. These larger plants can be produced at very low costs and produce 10 megawatts of energy, enough to power 15,000 homes and produce one million litres of water each, per day.
