Darryl Hannah was less than charming as the poison-toting assassin in Kill Bill, but it seems that she has a softer side. Her video blog features merchants and the products they were showing off at the Ultimate ‘Green’ Room, an Earth-friendly beauty care event. Held at a prestigious Los Angeles Hotel and timed to coincide with the Emmys, this event gave celebrities a chance to explore their vegan, environmentally-friendly, and non-toxic options. I mean, who uses more makeup than actresses? From the formaldehyde in nail polish that can turn your nails yellow (and which is obviously not good to inhale), to the petrochemicals in the two tubes of lipstick which the average woman apparently ingests each year, beauty comes at a very high cost.
It doesn’t have to, though. At the Green Room were featured mineral-based makeups, vegan shoes, and jeans made from corn (non-genetically-modified and organically grown?) and bamboo—even some lined with wood chips, that are apparently amazingly soft. No more worrying about the amount of pesticide used to grow cotton and its effect both on the environment and your skin, or its accumulation in your body. And Darryl Hannah makes a docile, sweet, and distinctly non-homicidal host!
